We’re Open & Working Virtually During COVID-19!

Going through a family law crisis is an incredibly challenging time and the recent recommendations to self-quarantine have only added stress to an already difficult time.

Our commitment to our clients is to be by your side in this difficult and challenging time. If you need immediate assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us as we are here to help.

We are open for business as regular, but due to the current global outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Provinziano & Associates legal team will be working remotely from March 16, 2020 through April 3, 2020 in an effort to comply with the CDC recommendations and for the health and safety of our team and their families.

HOW TO GET A HOLD OF US

You can still call us as usual through our main line at (310) 683-4623, we will be available during our regular office hours of 8am to 6pm.

You can also email our client concierges directly at their following emails:

Alexis – Alexis@provinziano.com
CJ – CJ@provinziano.com

WHAT IF I HAVE A COURT DATE?

The situation is still in flux by the courts and each case will be handled differently by each courtroom on a case by case basis. Currently, the courts are still open, but ask that anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19, been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, or those exhibiting cold/flu symptoms to seek a continuance. Technology may also be available to call into court by both the attorneys and the clients, and we are seeking to utilize this to stop the spread of COVID-19.

HOW WILL I SIGN OR TRANSFER DOCUMENTS TO MY ATTORNEY?

Provinziano & Associates is a fully digital office and so all files and documents can be shared digitally with your attorney. As always you can sign any documents and send them to you your case manager via e-mail.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M CONCERNED ABOUT MY CASE?

Please email or call us at (310) 683-4623 to speak with Alexis (Alexis@provinziano.com) or CJ (CJ@provinziano.com) to set up an appointment with your case manager, Mr. Provinziano, or Ms. David.

This new law states that a child in California can legally have three parents. Child custody cases may now have to include orders for three parents making the process of defining custody even more complicated.

Registering an Out-of-State Custody Order in California

We have had a number of clients come to the firm when something happens with their child’s other parent is not playing by the rules. They realize that they need to enforce a custody order that was made before they moved to California. Although these situations sometimes have a great deal of urgency to them, the good news is that a California court can enforce an out-of-state custody order provided that you “register” the out-of-state order here in California.

The Role of a Minor’s Counsel in a 730 Child Custody Evaluation

When a parent who maintains legal primary child custody in California requests to move away with the child and the stay behind parent opposes the move, the court is likely to require a California Evidence Code 730 Child Custody Evaluation prior to making a determination. A 730 Child Custody Evaluation is a wide-ranging evaluation by an approved mental health professional used to advise and report back to the Court relevant factors under the La Musga case in order to assist the court in making a decision regarding the child’s best interests.
