Alphonse F. Provinziano Installed as BHBA President

On September 23, 2026, Alphonse F. Provinziano was sworn in as President of the Beverly Hills Bar Association before a room filled with judges, attorneys, Bar leaders, colleagues, friends, and family at BHBA’s annual Installation and Awards Dinner at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

By the time he took the stage as President, Provinziano had spent years watching both BHBA and the profession evolve.

In his installation remarks, he spoke about a legal profession being reshaped by artificial intelligence, remote work, virtual court appearances, and changing expectations around how lawyers practice.

Technology has created efficiencies, he noted, but it has also affected some of the informal connections that once happened naturally around courtrooms, offices, lunches, and Bar events.

His answer was to make connection itself a priority. Lawyers still need judgment, empathy, courage, mentorship, professional trust, and relationships. And in his view, the Beverly Hills Bar Association has an increasingly important role in creating the places where those relationships can begin.

His theme for the year is simple: Reconnect the Bar.

Provinziano outlined three priorities for his term: bringing members together, opening BHBA more fully to the next generation of lawyers, and strengthening the Association’s collective voice.

These build on work already underway. Throughout his involvement with BHBA, Alphonse has contributed to legal education, professional development, and programs that bring practitioners together around emerging issues in family law.

He has taught and moderated continuing legal education programs, worked alongside judges, fellow attorneys, and other practitioners, and created opportunities for lawyers to learn from perspectives beyond California.

That perspective is especially visible in BHBA’s International Family Law CLE Series, which he hosts. The series brings together practitioners from different jurisdictions to examine how cross-border family law issues are handled in practice, and the legal challenges that arise when California family law intersects with foreign legal systems.

Bringing the Next Generation Into the Room

BHBA currently offers free membership to law students, those awaiting Bar results, and attorneys in their first three years of practice. Provinziano plans to build on that opportunity by visiting law schools throughout Greater Los Angeles with fellow BHBA leaders and alumni.

The goal is not simply to introduce students to the Association. It is to bring them into the professional community earlier.

Mentors, future colleagues, judges, referral relationships, and lifelong professional connections often begin with a first introduction. Provinziano wants young lawyers to understand that they do not need to wait until they are established practitioners to take part.

Expanding BHBA’s Role in California Legal Policy

Provinziano also wants BHBA to play a more active role in the policy issues affecting California’s courts and legal profession.

That work began before he took office. As President-elect, he helped connect BHBA with the California Lawyers Association, and BHBA sponsored the CLA FLEXCOM Family Law Policy and Practice Summit in Sacramento. The Association also supported legislation intended to protect judges’ home addresses from public disclosure.

Although that measure did not become law this year, Provinziano made clear that BHBA intends to remain engaged on judicial privacy and other issues involving judicial independence, the rule of law, and access to justice.

As he put it in his installation remarks, connection is also about what lawyers can accomplish when they speak together.

Leadership Grounded in Practice

His commitment to the legal community runs alongside more than two decades in practice. Provinziano is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization and a former Deputy District Attorney. He has handled more than 2,000 cases and more than 250 trials during his career.

As President, Provinziano will lead the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Board of Governors and work with its leadership, members, and wider legal community during the coming term.

His installation represents both a significant professional milestone and the next chapter in a relationship with BHBA built over years of service

Key Takeaway

Provinziano begins his 2026-2027 BHBA presidency with a clear agenda: reconnect lawyers, bring the next generation into the Bar, and strengthen BHBA’s voice on issues affecting California’s courts and legal profession.
