Provinziano & Associates Offers Tailored Legal Advice for LGBTQ+ Couples in California

Family law firm highlights unique legal issues facing gender non-conforming families

Provinziano & Associates is offering legal advice tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ couples in California.

The firm added a new section to its website detailing its work on more than 100 cases with LGBTQ+ families over the past decade and outlining some of the unique legal issues they face.

“The legal landscape is constantly changing for LGBTQ+ families, due to new laws in California and other states and appeals court rulings,” said firm founder Alphonse Provinziano who is a certified family law specialist and a former deputy district attorney. “But the core of our practice remains the same: giving our clients the respect and dignity they deserve as we help them through difficult personal times.”

Recently, Provinziano has been outspoken on the potential crisis for the state courts system due to a new Florida law that allows a judge to remove a minor from the custody of a parent if they are receiving gender-affirming treatment, even if another state has jurisdiction. He was featured in the Sacramento Bee and wrote a guest opinion column in STAT News explaining how this will lead to conflicts with California law.

Provinziano said that these and other laws can add challenges to the already difficult issues clients face on topics such as divorce, child custody and surrogacy. But he said that having a legal team who understands your situation can help reduce stress.

“We pride ourselves on having a diverse team of attorneys from varied backgrounds and all walks of life and welcoming everyone into our offices,” added Provinziano. “We have found over the years that this helps set our clients at ease from the moment they walk in the door.”
